2 Photograph by Leanda Venter DEAR ALL, Wow – it feels like it was Christmas just last week and now its February! I know that January is traditionally a painful month financially for most people due to overspending in December, but we have had a very positive start as the response to the incredible EOS 1DX Mk3 has exceeded our expectations. I have been putting it through its paces recently in a variety of scenarios and it continues to impress. The speed of focus acquisition and the tracking at such high frame rates is beyond anything I have ever seen in a DSLR. In more exciting news, you will see the development announcement of our new EOS R5 camera coming later this year. Even though the exact details are not available right now, the indication that it will be high resolution, blisteringly fast and with 8K video with in-Body- stabilisation should be welcomed by the market when it does start to ship later this year. Not only that, but the plan to launch more RF lenses - especially the L-series RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM, and RF 1.4x and 2.0x extenders should be a further assurance to the market that Canon is very serious about mirrorless and has a clearly- defined plan to expand the system to benefit all photographers and videographers alike. And finally – further proof that Canon isn’t giving up on DSLR users – the addition of the EOS 850D to the entry/mid-range lineup should be a welcome addition for those of you wanting to do more, without breaking the bank or switching to mirrorless just yet! Read more about these on page 4. Until next time, when I hope to have even MORE news for you – keep Clicking away! ROGER MACHIN Product Manager PVDVC Products Canon SA NOTE Editors
