EDITOR’S NOTE 2 DEAR ALL, As usual, this issue comes to you as we are about to hit the road – again! 2019 has certainly been a year of travel and shows no signs of changing anytime soon. The first in our annual EOS Roadshows is coming up in Durban, together with a fun idea we had to do a photowalk/instameet event at the iconic Moses Mabhida stadium. We’re calling it an Instawalk, and if it goes well, we’ll bring it to the other cities as well. We have also formally announced that we will be taking a stand at the Photo Video Expo happening in July 2019. This is certainly looking to be a very big event indeed and should be a highlight on the photo calendar for this year. We will be hosting our JHB leg of the Roadshow at the Expo to give our attendees the option to see the show as well. We are in the final planning stages of a variety of things to do and see at the show, as well as possible international visitors/presenters. The recent cashback promotion on a whole bunch of lenses and a few cameras is being very well received and we are very happy that so many of you are taking advantage of these great discounts. We have also seen a marked increase in interest and demand for the full-frame EOS R cameras andwe are really glad that more of you are buying into the idea as this is certainly the future of photography. The new RF lens mount offers so much by the way of quality and design improvements over the EF mount and will be our go-to system for the next 30 years at least. I have been VERY fortunate to have been playing with the new RF 85mm f1.2 L lens recently (announced 8 May). All I can say is that I’ve never seen quality like this before. The optical performance is beyond description. If you are in the market for the absolute best ever in a portrait lens – make sure you have a look at this when it hits our shores in June. That’s it for this issue – until next time, keep Clicking away! Roger Machin Product Manager PVDVC Products Canon SA
