EDITOR’S NOTE 2 DEAR ALL, This year certainly seems to be flying by quickly – it feels like just a week ago that I was talking about bracing for the cold winter months and now all of a sudden, it is Spring. This is the time of year is when things start to get exciting as the biggest photographic show in the world (Photokina in Cologne Germany) is just around the corner and almost all of the camera manufacturers get themselves ready for the thousands of visitors who are eager to see the latest and greatest products on the market. This year should be very interesting, to say the least. As you will see in this issue, Canon has already announced a new Powershot in the pre-Photokina days. This is a very capable little beast with a big zoom in a small body. Not to mention all the connectivity and the 4K video option - 4K is still the biggest demand for new products amongst the videographers and vloggers. Video is showing no signs of slowing by any means, as almost ALL social media platforms offer the moving image to advertisers and clickbait sites alike to capture your attention far quicker than a still image. YouTube is now the second largest search engine after Google, which would seem to indicate that we are reaching a stage of fast, reliable, lower cost bandwidth from the mobile device operators. In SA, it is still not cheap so most of us turn off the video auto-play function, BUT, it is starting to get much more convenient to watch a meal/recipe videos quickly rather than searching for a printable or readable one. More and more content is available by the second and videos that teach or demonstrate how to do something are growing exponentially. I heard recently about a guy who managed to build a house from scratch purely based on videos he watched on YouTube – I guess he must have been pretty capable in DIY already because I’m pretty sure there is no way I could do THAT. All I can say is that we already started a YouTube version of this magazine (search for Click Video Mag on YouTube) – so we are embracing this in a big way. One final note – if you haven’t already found it and used it on your camera, maybe it is time to find and try the video button! Until next time – keep Clicking away!
