EDITOR’S NOTE

DEAR

ALL,

This issue of Click magazine comes to you hot

off the announcement of two more brand new

EOS cameras at the end of June. These two new

cameras bring the total for new EOS cameras in

2017 to 6! (with the inclusion of the EOS C200

announced at the end of May included). Six new

cameras in the first half of the 30th anniversary

of EOS is great news indeed for photographers

from all genres.

The latest entry-level addition is the EOS 200D, a

super-compact , high specification replacement

for the popular EOS 100D that has been on the

market for a few years already. Connectivity

is the main upgrade here with Wi-Fi, NFC and

Bluetooth as standard as well as Dual-Pixel

Autofocus – a first for a camera in this price

bracket. DAF is a trademarked technology unique

to Canon that provides fast, accurate auto-focus

in live-view and video modes on a DSLR and has

proven to be a firm favourite in the video and

vlogging sectors.

In the high end of the mid-range cameras –

the long-awaited replacement to the EOS 6D

has finally arrived in the Mark II version – also

announced at the end of June. Detailed spec

and features can be found further in this issue,

but we are confident that all of the current EOS

6D users will be happy with the upgrades and

potential first-time buyers of a full-frame DSLR

will also be pleasantly surprised by this compact

power-house. Canon listened very carefully to

users requests and fulfilled as many features as

possible when designing the Mark II. There are

some quite subtle changes that I found quite

appealing – most notably the addition of a video

boss to the tripod mount on the bottom of the

BG-E21 battery grip for the EOS 6D Mark II. It

is a very small thing that will make a difference

to videographers in particular as it avoids the

possibility of camera shift while panning on a

tripod. I love the flip-out LCD – great for high or

low viewpoints – but particularly appealing

for vloggers.

We will be showing the remarkable EOS C200

and the new EOS 6D Mark II to the public for the

first time at the upcoming AV show Mediatech –

held at the Dome in Northgate 19-21 July 201. This

show is aimed at pro AV specialists, film makers

and videographers and is well worth a visit if

you’re in those industries. Canon SA will have a

stand for the very first time at Mediatech and

we’d love to see you there.

Until next time – keep Clicking away!
